I'd like to congratulate Mike Blakesley, Jose De Avila, and David Fielding for being randomly selected to receive a signed copy of my new book, Cartel: The Coming Invasion of Mexico's Drug Wars!
I've emailed the three of you with instructions for claiming your prize, but in case you don't receive it, please contact Adam Pendergraph of 1105 Media (sponsors of the giveawar for the GovSec West conference) at [email protected] with your contact/mailing information.
Thanks again to all of you who participated!
You know, as a Mexican I hate how you keep a big smile while profiting off the deaths in my country, abusing sensationalism and old stereotypes. Keep smiling while showing off your book (like some kind of Stephenie Meyer) and posting on twitter, because violence in Mexico surely is as exciting and fictitious as a Western or James Bond movie. Insensitive cynic.

@Capitalino - So you're saying I'm not ever allowed to look happy or smile in public because of my work? And everyone who writes about the drug war in Mexico - or any other form of violence in the world - should do it for free because making a living from it is a bad thing? Trust me, I will get nowhere close to rich from writing this book. And yes, I'm extremely proud and happy that my work was recognized by a major publisher as worthy of putting on a bookstore shelf. Many years of hard work and experience, and thousands of hours went into putting Cartel together. And yes, I'm extremely happy that hopefully thousands of Americans will finally understand through my work that the drug war in Mexico needs more of our government's attention. Don't for one second take some photo of me out of context and think that I believe the carnage and suffering in Mexico is some sort of joke. If you believe that, then you obviously haven't read most of my work, and definitely haven't read my book. This photo in particular was taken at my book launch party, at which I celebrated the culmination of all this work with close friends and family members. It was a blast, and in the photo it shows. I'm in no way ashamed of that. There was no way I was going to look sullen and serious in every photo so that the general public might believe I'm always down in the dumps because of my work. Good day to you, sir.
