Corruption has gotten out of hand in the Los Cabos area of Baja Sur. I have been robbed by Federal Police 3 times in December 2009 alone.

December 2nd for $3,000-, December 15th for $5,000- and December 22nd for another $3,000-.

They start off with a typical inspection. Drivers License OK, Vehicle Registration OK, Insurance OK, but there must be some reason they need my money more than I, or was this just the yearly Christmas Mordida shake down again?

The Federal Police will even drive you to the ATM to help you get the MORDIDA money needed if you do not have enough money on hand. And no one cares... Why should they? They already have my money.

After retiring to Los Cabos after 44 years of Federal Service it is obvious that Mexico does not run this country but rather the Mafia does. Or are the government and the Mafia one in the same.

Commenting here is only another reason for retaliation from the local cops at all levels. There is no control of police whatsoever in Mexico.

When is Mexico going to hire someone to run this country properly? It is obvious they have no intentions of doing anything but taking more and more daily. When will this end?
